How to stop garrys mod from downloading addons

Does anybody know how i can stop servers from downloading addons and after it extracting them? On the menu, go into optionsmultiplayer. Find the drop down box that says "When a server tries to download custom content to your computer". You can select no files, all files, just map files, or everything except sound files. I downloaded an addon pack called Gmod Starter Pack and it had about addons included, The problem is every time i load up the game, it starts downloading the addons, but the over 30mb addons crash the game, and i end up having to repeat this process of starting up the game all the time to get them too load. I think I just solved the seven-year-long problem of addons either missing from the Garry's Mod addons folder or addons not being downloaded in the Garry's M.
